I should have said yesterday that I have decent news to share today. Because great to me does not mean great to you. And there is a good chance that this will make most of you in other states go, "meh." (read all the way to the end for extra good news--not as in "extra good" but as in additional news that might be considered good. sigh)
The other day I was driving late at night in a snowstorm, which is pretty scary. Smaller cars were sliding all around me, some careening down the hills with little control and others getting stuck while going up the hill.
And then
there was a red sign lit up on my right. One of the most glorious signs I have ever seen, for it was
and underneath it another sign that announced that their official opening date will be November 30th.
I wish I could tell you that I remained composed and focused on the snowy road. I wish I could tell you that I didn't announce it to my kids with the same excitement as a fantasy vacation or a new car. Perhaps we all started discussing WHAT we would buy first and which kid would be able to get out of school for this blessed occasion.
I ought to be embarrassed at my giddiness.
Alas, I am not embarrassed. For my giddiness is real.
Christmas? What is Christmas? This is one of my dearest wishes come true. I am even considering applying for a job at my local Trader Joe's. If they would take me on Saturdays only. For a few hours. And full benefits.
Oh, but Christmas IS coming. The goose IS getting fat. I am making my holiday music mix and to make today's news even more GREAT, I am offering one mix to one lucky commenter. Because I am a giver, as you well know.
Leave me a comment, tell me your favorite store or your favorite Trader Joe's product. OR you can write "consumerism is killing us" and I will accept that. I will pick a winner later this week. You want to win. TRUST.

Peppermint Jo-Jos, hands down!
Almond butter with toasted flaxseed. But, sadly, it was recalled and hasn't returned, YET...
my favorite stores are Superstition Ranch Market, and Sprouts for food. And i love Last Chance.
Alas, I have never been to Trader Joe's. I guess I will never win the mix CD. =(
Since I have never been to a Trader Joe's, my favorite product is whatever you have given me-Jo Jo's and chocolate. We should take a little field trip there together when it opens.
Their dark chocolate caramels--I can't buy those any more or I can't even look at myself in the morning.
I wish I could say my favorite item wasn't Cookie Butter....but it is. By the heaping spoonful!
Chocolate pretzel thins. I'm so happy for you Anna. Merry Christmas!
I have never stepped foot in a Trader Joe's. But one of my mom's saintly friends used to bring us Trader Joe's shampoo and conditioner when she visited relatives in Cali. And for a mom who washes her hair once...maybe twice...a week. Their shampoo is da bomb.
I like their salsas, particularly the chipotle one.
The 1 pound Belgian Bittersweet Chocolate Bar with Almonds
hooray! yay for you! :)
too many things from TJs to list. enjoy.
Three layer hummus with pita chips!
I've never been, but have been given Jo-Jos. Based on those, I'm going to really like the place!
That is definitely GREAT news. Which reminds me, I need to run over there today and get some of their orange cranberry sauce before they run out!
=)
There unsweetened mango it is candy to me!! Please pick me I need some new music!!!!
The chocolate covered Bing Cherries...I could probably finish off the container before I even got home. I may see you at the grand opening! ;)
They have a fabulous apple cider that is good COLD. And mini pancakes. But overall, their chocolate covered pretzels win the prize!
