Big Recommend

So, you know that I am super classy, right? (Rhett has been beginning all of his sentences with "So" and it is kind of rubbing off on me.)

Super classy. Like at least once a week I don't allow any containers or jars of condiments on the table at dinner. CALASSEE!

I am willing to disturb my status as fantastically sophisticated, to give you a recommendation for your viewing pleasure. Stay with me, friends, and give it a try.

So.

The Aquabats are a rock band who have been around almost 20 years. They started because they wanted to be a punk band that had positive, happy messages--very different from most bands at the time (and currently). They esteem themselves as super heroes fighting the evils of the world and frequently have onstage battles with costumed monsters and villains. Their creative ventures have gone on to include Yo Gabba Gabba! and their new featured show The Aquabats Super Show!

Which brings me to the point. Over the Christmas break, Alan introduced our entire family to the first season of the Aquabats Super Show on Netflix (it is now on Hulu, as well). We watched the whole season... twice. My kids cannot stop reciting it. I have never heard so much laughter from everyone about a television show.

It is nuts.

It is bizarre.

It makes no sense.

It is awesome.

I wanted to dislike it. I wanted to roll my eyes. Occasionally, I do both. But I cannot deny that it is a pretty fantastic show. It is so bananas and I admit--as classy as I am notwithstanding--that I adore it. Would you try it out? Let me know what you think.

Here is a taste. These are a couple of our favorite oft-watched clips:

You saved Mikey's sick day. He is home from school with a nasty bug and watched the entire season and almost cried when there wasn't a second. We all thank you.

Hooray, Jess. I am glad. Tell him that it is even better the 2nd time around!

The Aquabats. So funny - I haven't thought about them in forever. One of them is a friend of both my boys - they all grew up together. Gave me a little smile to thing about that.
